Vecchie terre di Montefili belonged to the Abbey of Badia of Passignano since 1200. It was given to the monks of the Abbey by the owners of the Castle of Montefili, a noble family of Florence. The "coat of arms" of the estate was a vine with a grape which means that since that time montefili produced grapes to make wine, which were much appreciated by the Florentines.
The property was bought in the year 1979 by Roccaldo Acuti a textile producer of Prato. He loved good wine and decided to produce it personally.
At that time Chianti was nearly completely abbandoned and Acuti decided to produce again top quality wine. He planted new vineyards with modern technologies. He made new cellars with a total modern climatology, supported by a very good enologist and clever agronomist.
He was successful.
